carlo gavazzi photoelectric sensors

Carlo Gavazzi offers a large range of photoelectric sensors which are used extensively  on packaging machinery, automatic door systems, and in car washes. Our photo sensors are available in diffuse reflective, background suppression, reto-reflective, polarized, and through beam. We also offer a range of fibre-optic type photoelectric sensors for applications where a conventional photo sensor cannot be used (space restrictions, temperature, atmosphere).

Also included in our range of photoelectric sensors, is our VP series optical types. These are ideal for use in level applications. They are available in various housing materials which allow their use in various industrial cleaning solutions.

Features

  • Available in diffuse, retro-reflective, polarized, and through-beam types.
  • Cylindrical types with 18mm diameter - available with plastic or nickel-plated brass housings.
  • Flat pack photo sensors.
  • High power photoelectric sensors with separate amplifier for use in car washes and other harsh environments.
  • Fibre optic types for use in places where a standard photosensor will not fit.

Sensing Principles

diffuse relective photoelectric sensors

A diffuse reflective sensor detects an object by direct reflection off the object. The colour and texture of the object can have a significant effect on the sensing distance. Light colour objects will be detected at a greater distance than dark objects.
Light Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is present.
Dark Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is not present.

background suppression photoelectric sensors

A background suppression sensors works like a diffuse sensor except it has an adjustment to ignore the background - even if the background is more reflective than the object. Also, the colour of the object has little effect on the sensing distance.
Light Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is present.
Dark Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is not present.

retro reflective photoelectric sensors

A retro-reflective sensor uses a reflector. When an object is placed between the sensor and reflector, the beam is interrupted. A retro-reflective sensor has a much longer sensing distance than a diffuse type.
Light Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is not present.
Dark Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is present.

through beam photoelectric sensors

A through beam sensor has a separate transmitter and receiver. When an object is placed between the transmitter and receiver, the beam is interrupted. A through beam system has the longest sensing range.
Light Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is not present.
Dark Switching : The output of the sensor turns on when the object is present.
