Ultrasonic Sensors

Carlo Gavazzi's Ultrasonic sensors and ultrasonic transducers are the newest addition to our range of level detection products (conductive, capacitive, optical, and mechanical). They are available for sensing distances up to 8 metres and feature either an analogue output (4-20 mA / 0-10 V) or one or two transistor outputs (PNP or NPN).

Ultrasonic sensors send out a sound wave which is reflected back by the object being detected. Based on the time taken to receive the signal back, the sensor determines the distance the object is away. To minimize error due to temperature variations, all Carlo Gavazzi ultrasonic sensors feature built-in temperature stabilization.

Typical applications are for level detection and monitoring in tanks and hoppers, parts detection, and diameter measuring in winding machinery. Our sensors interface directly with panel meters or programmable logic controllers to form complete control systems.

• Sensing distance is adjustable via either a built in potentiometer, teach-in contact, via serial communication (software is provided)..

Our Range of Ultrasonic Sensors Comprises:

• UA18 Series : 18 mm cylindrical plastic housing for level control and monitoring. They are available with either an analogue or digital output. Connection is via a 2 metre cable or quick disconnect plug.
• UA30 Series : 30 mm cylindrical plastic housing for level control and monitoring. They are available with either an analogue or digital output. Distance setting is via a built-in pot, through a teach-in functions, or through RS232. Connection is via a 2 metre cable or quick disconnect plug.
• UA80 Series : Block style housing for use as a stand-alone ultrasonic transducer or for use with an external amplifier. Both digital and analogue outputs are available.
