Band Heaters
Mica Bands
Applications:
Processes with heat range requirements from 300-800°F
Barrels of plastic injection molding and extrusion machines
Maintain or add additional heat to cylindrical pipes, dies or molds
Packaging machinery
Chemical or food processing
Diameters from ¾"
Ceramic Insulated Bands
Applications:
Processes with heat ranges requirements up to 1200°F at 50 watts/in²
High dielectric strength, superior to other insulation at over 300 volts
Unaffected by expansion of cylinder being heated
Easy to install – open up and wrap around cylinder
Wire processing – both radiant heat and conduction
Plastic injection molding and extrusion barrels and dies
Metal injection molding
Mineral Insulated Bands
Applications:
Processes with heat range requirements up to 1400°F and watt densities of 100 watts/in²
Higher heat transfer rates than mica or ceramic heaters
Can be completely sealed to prevent contamination in severe environments
Ideal for injection molding and extrusion of engineering grade resins
Offer rapid heat-up, reduced failures and may allow for reducing the physical size or number of heaters needed for the application
Tubular Bands
Applications:
Small diameter cylinders with high heat requirements
Narrow areas where holes are required in the band
Areas exposed to contamination
Hot runner mold systems
Blown film dies and front end heat in extrusion processes
May be placed in extruded aluminum shoe to provide uniform temperature throughout the band and maximize even heat distribution
